My Background

I’m Jack Motzkin. I live in the Southwest. I’m an Eagle Scout. I’ve earned a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology. During my senior year, I decided to apply my educational background to the User Experience Design field. So post-graduation, I completed an international user experience research and design program, worked on two portfolio projects, and achieved my BCS UX Certification and IBM Data Science Certification. I want to help companies create intuitive, integrated, and accessible digital and physical experiences through a deep understanding of their customer’s behaviors, preferences, and needs. I’m looking for a job at a great company that will help me begin the journey of building deep skills in user research and experience design.

My Goals

While I enjoy all aspects of the user experience design process, I want to initially dig deep into user research. To be an effective designer you need to be able to walk in your user’s shoes and truly understand the way they live, their preferences, and needs. With my background in psychology and sociology, I have a keen sense of the human condition, which motivates me to want to build my UX research muscles. I also have a grandmother with macular degeneration, which has created an interest in deeply understanding how to help those with disabilities interact with the online world. I feel like this is an area where I will really excel.

My Work

It's early days for me on my UX career journey. I have had the chance to work with three real clients – Oxfam, a charitable organization based in Australia, and Origins Cannabis, a dispensary based in Washington State, and now a fire and flood company, Premier Packout. These three opportunities have allowed me to directly apply what I learned in my PeakXD User Research and Design program, leading to my BCS UX certification. I’ve also had a number of other work and extracurricular experiences that have cultivated my ability to learn, create, solve problems, lead, coach, teach, and work collaboratively with others.
